  • Feedback is appreciated! ideas or game features? Thoughts about the art style, or any questions  please let me know

Alright now into more detail...

A little bit about myself --- I have been in game development for roughly a year now, starting off with Python and using plugins such as Pygame, creating a lot of small games.  6 months ago I found out about unity and completed some of their courses, after doing a couple of game jams and creating some games with unity. Those games you can check out on my developer page.

I always wanted to create a mobile game as I enjoy playing mobile games in my free time, and I thought it would be cool if I could whip out a mobile app that I created and play it whenever I wanted.   So I decided to start this project on July 29, 2020, so it's been a little over 3 weeks now of development and I still have a long way to go until I am satisfied with this project.  Solo development is definitely one of the most difficult things I have done in my life, but I know that if I am able to finish this game, I will be very proud of myself.  My main goal is just to make a finished game, So I decided to make a Devlog for motivation to finish.

About the game ---

Starfall is a single-player offline Platformer where you control a star a bounce your way through space, collect items that you can use to change your star's appearance.  This game is a casual game meant to be played whenever you feel like it.  As you progress through the areas, you will discover new game mechanics that challenge you to think of ways to reach the next level. I intend to make this game fairly difficult as i don't expect you to pass every level on the first try. What's a fun game without a challenge?

The game's visuals are inspired by Super Phantom Cat 2

I really liked the simple art style which would go well with my game given how simple the mechanics are. Although the visuals in SPC2 are much cleaner and more polished, I try my best to implement elements into my game. Plus this is my first time working with art as well.

Regarding Sound, I have a friend that I have work with in the past creating some sounds for the game, shout out to https://amerrittaudio.itch.io/

I think that's enough for this Devlog, more updates and Devlogs will be coining in the future.

Thanks for your interest, Peace!
